In 2004, the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) selected Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis for evaluation.

During the evaluation, 148 published papers on BIA were reviewed, and the results were published, showing RJL to have 43% of the market share within the research community.

The ESPEN conference features hundreds of exhibitors, presenting the latest products and trends each year.  In 2008, the RJL/Akern Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer was recognized for its standards of excellence, receiving the highly  distinguished FIBO Innovation Award for its contribution to the Fitness and Wellness Industry.
